According to European studies, Colombian women are more likely to get married outside their group than other migrants, so it’s safe to say that it’s pretty much the same thing in the United States. Simply put, Colombian women are not just very popular with Western men; they are also interested in marrying outside their ethnicity.
Why? What’s the secret of this “mutual popularity”? Why do thousands of them dream of marrying an American man?
Let’s break it down.

For me, it’s LatiDate. There are many good dating apps, but LatiDate is the #1 right now: it’s incredibly popular (more than 800,000 monthly visits), and the ladies’ profiles are verified by ID. The dating pool on LatiDate is extremely large, there are thousands of real girls from Colombia here. And there’s also a welcome bonus for new users—every new member gets 20 credits for free!
How To Find Colombian Bride: Best Way To Meet Colombian Brides
Let’s get it straight: right now, the best way to meet a Colombian bride is online dating. That’s not the only option you have, of course, and we’ll cover them all here, but there are at least 2 reasons why online dating should be your #1 choice.
- First, online dating is much more convenient than any other option. This method’s convenience is indisputable—you do not need to go anywhere and approach women in person, you don’t even need to leave your home, you don’t need to learn about the best places to meet locals, and so on. All you need is your laptop or even your smartphone, a good dating app, and a few minutes of your time.
- Second, it’s about the chances. Scientists usually don’t do such experiments, so there’s not a lot of data available, but according to various people, the success rate of approaching women on the streets is usually around 5-6%.
There’s another reason why meeting Colombian women online might be a good idea: online dating is quite popular in this country. The population of Colombia is 53 million, and the user penetration rate for online dating apps is around 5% which means more than 2,650,000 Colombians are using dating apps right now. Yes, of course, this doesn’t mean you’ll meet several million mail order brides there, it’s not how it works. In every country, the majority of dating app users are interested in finding a local partner, not a foreigner.
And that is where Colombia is different. According to our analysis and research, we can say with confidence that Colombia is one of the top countries by the number of online mail order brides, i.e., women who are looking for a husband from another country.

It’s very important to choose a legit dating app because if you don’t, you will never find a real partner there. A trusted and legit dating website with real women is a must, finding such a website is the most important thing you need to do if you want to succeed. It’s a pretty long-time and effort-consuming process, to be honest, especially if you want to do all the research by yourself—but you actually don’t need to do all the research by yourself. I’ve tested more than 20 Latin dating apps and I found out that these three platforms are the most legit and trustworthy ones right now. Check them out:
- LatiDate — a dating platform with very detailed profiles, an incredibly high reply rate (62-65%), and a welcome bonus, too
- ColombiaLady — a top-notch dating platform with a very wide selection of features, from video chat to gift delivery. ID-verified profiles, Android app, and special seasonal discounts are also available
- GoChatty — a very dating app with thousands of ID-verified profiles, a very convenient live chat
Which one to join first? It’s up to you, but I would highly recommend checking out GoChatty if you want the best app. But both LatiDate and ColombiaLady have their unique advantages, too, so the best strategy would be to join all of them.
What About The Chances Of Finding A Bride There?
The problem is that most women you’ll approach would be either not single or not interested in dating a foreign man, but when we’re talking about mail order bride websites, the situation is completely different. Women there are single, and they are definitely interested in having a relationship with a foreigner—that’s why they’re here, after all! So it’s not just about the reply rate, which is around 60% on the best dating apps, it’s also about the chances of finding a wife, which are much higher there than on the streets.
Other Popular Ways To Find Colombian Bride
It’s not only about online dating, of course. You can also go offline: it’s fun and Colombia is certainly worth a visit if you love beaches, nightclubs, and national parks.
However, offline dating also has its disadvantages. It’s very expensive—you’ll need to pay around $150-$200 per month on the best dating apps, but even a 1-week tour to Colombia would cost you at least $1,200. It’s also dangerous: of course, Colombia is not as dangerous as it was, but visiting the country as a tourist is not 100% safe.
Let’s compare all the alternatives:
Mail order bride apps | Instagram/FB/Mainstream dating apps | Offline dating | Marriage agencies | |
Pros | Thousands of real women, high chances of finding a bride, and low price | Millions of users | Visiting Colombia is always a good idea | High chances of finding a bride |
Cons | Not 100% free, a lot of fake websites | Lots of fake profiles, women are not looking for serious relationships there | Very low chances of finding a bride, very expensive | Very expensive, very small dating pools |

How To Get Colombian Bride
So, how to do everything right? Here’s a simple step-by-step guide for you, from creating a profile to chatting with women. We’ll take LatiDate as an example because it’s one of the best Colombian mail order bride platforms right now, but technically, the process would be pretty similar no matter what website you’re going to use.
- First of all, create a profile. It’s fast—on LatiDate, for example, you’ll only need your email, name, and date of birth to sign up. I recommend using your real name, but using your one and only email address is probably not the best idea. I always create fake email accounts in my Google Mail when I sign up for new dating websites. These sites often go too far with email marketing and notifications, so using a new email for online dating is a good idea.
- Then, set your profile up. Upload photos—I would say that 5-10 photos is a golden standard for online dating nowadays but even if you upload 1 or 2 high-quality pictures, that would make your profile stand out from the crowd. And answer all those questions about your personality and your perfect relationship, please: that’s how you’ll make your profile more detailed.
- After that, browse the website and test its free features. Every dating app today has a certain number of free services—typically, everything that isn’t related to communication is free. On LatiDate, for example, you can not only browse profiles but also use all the search filters and even chat with the girls for free—you’ll get 20 free credits and 1 minute of live chat costs 2 credits there. I highly recommend to test all those free features, that’s how you’ll learn how to use the site.
- Then, start communicating with women. I always recommend the live chat for beginners because it feels more casual—I just have no idea how to start a conversation with a long letter. For me, short messages in the live chat work much better at the beginning, and live chat messages are also much more affordable than long emails, so that’s another reason why I prefer this communication method. But it’s up to you, of course.
These are recommendations, not rules. It’s up to you to follow them or not follow them, but remember that having a more complete profile always leads to a higher reply rate and to more messages from women.
Colombian Bride Price
It’s important: You can’t buy a bride. It’s often called “buying a foreign bride” but it’s always about dating and meeting foreign women, not about actually “buying” them.
Even though you can’t actually “buy” a bride (it’s just how some people call it, but it has nothing to do with buying), you won’t get her for free. Well, even when you date a girl in your city, it’s never free—you’ll need to pay for a premium subscription on a dating site, for dates, for the wedding (if you have serious intentions), and so on.
With Colombian women, the situation is similar. You’ll need to pay for such things as:
- Online dating — all the top Colombian bride websites are not free to use
- Meeting them in person — you’ll need to spend at least 1 week in Colombia
- Visa — it’s either a K-1 visa or a CR-1 visa, but neither of them is free
- Wedding — it might cost you from $200 for marriage registration to $20,000 for a fancy wedding party in Colombia, so we won’t include the wedding cost here
So, first, you’ll need to buy a premium subscription on a dating site. Actually, today, all these sites have a credit-based system, which has a very clear advantage: it’s very transparent. You buy credits, you spend them, and if you spend them all, you buy more. Here’s how much you’ll need to pay for a month of chatting on LatiDate:
- If you buy the largest credit package, you’ll pay 20 cents for 1 credit
- 1 minute of live chat costs 2 credits (40 cents)
- Typically, men chat for 15 minutes or so per day, which costs 30 credits ($6)
- If you chat for 15 minutes every day for a month, you’ll pay $180 for it
- Typically, men also send and receive around 10 photos per month
- 1 photo costs 10 credits ($2), 10 photos cost $20
- Total — around $200 per month
Then, a real-life date. Here’s how much you’ll pay for a 1-week trip to Colombia:
- Tickets from NYC to Bogota — $300
- Hotel in Bogota — around $200 for 1 week
- Transportation — $100
- Food, dates, gifts — $600 for 1 week
- Total — $1,200
And now, the visa. You can marry her in Colombia and bring her home on a CR-1 vis, or bring her home on a K-1 visa and marry her in the United States. In the first case, you’ll pay around $1,500, and in the second case, you’ll need to pay $1,100 right away and $1,440 for the marriage green card when your bride arrives in the US and you get married (total cost is $2,540).
So, here’s how much it actually costs:
- Online dating — around $200 per month
- A 1-week trip to Colombia — at least $1,200
- Visa — from $1,500 to $2,500
- Total — from $3,900 to $4,900
But that’s not all.
What else do you need to know about the bride price in Colombia?
- There’s a “Gringo Pricing” problem in Colombia. In fact, this problem exists in every South American country—it’s when they charge foreigners a much higher price for literally everything compared to a local. That’s why if you’re going to pay for the wedding and stuff in Colombia, it would be wise to visit the restaurant and the wedding planner with your bride, not alone.
- Typically, the brides’ families don’t request a dowry—but it’s “typically they don’t”, not “they never do”. If you’re asked for a dowry, it’s up to you—if it’s too large and you can’t or don’t want to pay it, just discuss it with your bride and her parents. If your relationship is genuine and she’s not a gold-digger, you’ll find a solution.
- In most cases, buying a gift for your bride’s parents is a good idea. I’m not talking about buying them a new car or new tech—small gifts could work great, too. Alcohol, art prints, maybe jewelry (but not too expensive), plants, photo albums, even gift cards—you name it.
Success stories

I’ve never thought about it, I’ve never thought that it’s possible to find a WIFE online—not just a girl to chat with but a real soulmate, a person I could fall in love with and tie the knot with. But it’s possible! In 2023, I created a profile on a dating site LatiDate just because I wanted to relax and have some fun after a breakup. I was chatting with 2 or 3 different girls from Mexico and Brazil when Antonia texted me, and from that day, I only visited that website to chat with her. We spent 3 months chatting, I even sent her flowers via the site once, and then, we decided to meet. I wanted to spend a week or two in Bogota, but I had to stay for a month because we just couldn’t say goodbye to each other. And after that, I thought—why not? Why waste time? So I proposed, and she said yes!

We met on LatiDate and got married 2 months later. I didn’t want to get serious about it at first, but then she offered to visit her and I thought that it would be interesting to spend a vacation together. So I visited Medellin, we spent 3 weeks there, visited probably all the best clubs and bars, went to all those beautiful parks, spent 3 days on the beach in Nuqui, and after that, I proposed. She invited me to a family dinner, and this, I think, was a test, but it looks like I passed it successfully, and we got her father’s approval. We applied for a fiancée visa after that—I had to return to Houston, but in just 6 months, USCIS approved the application, and we got married in the Bell Tower. And here we are, together!
Cons of finding a wife from Colombia:
- Language barrier — not all Colombian women are fluent English speakers
- Cultural barrier — Colombians are pretty Westernized, but some differences might be a problem in the beginning
- Strong family bonds — family is always the top priority for Colombians, so they always support their relatives if somebody needs help (and you’ll have to support them and visit them often, too)
- Jealousy — sometimes, Colombian women are too jealous because they’re afraid their men could be cheaters
All these barriers and challenges might sound like a serious obstacle for international relationships. However, it’s not actually so bad. Thus, the language barrier and the cultural barrier are very easy to overcome—the language barrier will disappear in a few months, and all the cultural things can be fixed if you communicate honestly and directly about what you like and don’t like.
As for the family bonds, well, it’s also not that bad: it’s not like your wife’s family members will need your help every month (and if they do, you can always discuss it with your bride honestly and directly). The jealousy problem is also not impossible to fix: just show that you’re loyal and caring, and she will understand that you are not going to betray her.

Colombian Bride Interview

When I met Valentina on Latidate, I thought to myself—what would such a beautiful, young, and single girl do on a mail order bride website? So I decided to ask her.
Hi, Valentina! How are you? How long have you been on LatiDate?
Hi, I’m good! I’ve been using this website for 3 weeks or something like that. I actually created an account a year ago, but then I was distracted by different things, so I literally had no time for online dating. And 3 weeks ago, I thought “why not?” So I signed in, recovered my password, uploaded some photos, and wrote a profile bio—you know, to get more profile views and so on.
Do you like the site? You probably get hundreds of messages every day, right?
Yes! I mean, yes, I really like it. I’m not the most experienced user, of course, and I only chatted with, like, 5 men, but I see that there’s a lot of potential here and a lot of cool features. There’s a gift delivery here! I don’t know how it works yet but I’m sure it’s a nice feature for those who build a long-distance relationship. As for the messages, well… No, not hundreds, of course. Yesterday, only 2 men texted me, for example. But yes, there’s a lot of male accounts here, and during these 3 weeks, I got more than 50 first messages from different guys!
It’s not surprising; I guess your profile is one of the most popular here, haha. So here’s the question that has been occupying my mind for the last 3 hours: Why are you here, on a mail bride site? What are you looking for? And why can’t you find it in your country?
I guess I’m really a “mail order bride” or whatever it’s called nowadays. I’m really interested in a long-term relationship, and ideally, I’d like to find a husband here. To be fair, that’s why I didn’t reply to most of those 50 guys who texted me—they just weren’t serious about it, it looked like they wanted to find a girlfriend for a short-term relationship or even a hookup!
As for the last question…Well, I don’t want to offend anyone, and I definitely don’t want to say that men in Colombia are bad. There are millions of men in Colombia, I can’t generalize THAT much. But the ones I met in Bogota… Students I knew when I was studying at Universidad de Los Andes, colleagues in my office, men who were in our hiking group, and in our group of wild animals observers—all they wanted was something casual. And at the same time, they wanted a girlfriend who would be loyal to them, who would live with them, take care of the house, clean, and cook! I mean, it’s probably what we call machismo—it’s very deep in our culture, it’s the philosophy of male dominance when men can cheat and abuse their women and it’s not considered a problem by society.
I don’t like it! I want a real relationship, I want to be treated as equal, I want equal rights, after all. I can take care of the house and I want to raise my own children, but I want to be respected. I believe that Americans are more loyal and caring, and simply make better husbands than locals.
Well, as an American man, I’m quite flattered! Have you already met someone? What do you think about American men on LatiDate—do they meet your expectations?
No, I haven’t. I had a lot of messages from men, but unfortunately, I haven’t found love here yet. But still, you know, it’s different from how it usually works in Colombia. Here, men can start abusing you from the very first message, and if we’re talking about offline relationships, it’s even worse. And American men—even though the ones who texted me weren’t too serious about it—still look more respectful to me.
Well, I’m sure that for you, all the best is yet to come. And what will you do if you meet that special man? Are you ready to leave Colombia?
Oh, thank you! Yes, of course, I’m ready. I know some women who got married and moved to the US and Canada, and they’re the happiest people I’ve ever met! So yes, I actually dream of meeting a foreign guy who would take me to the North.
Colombian Mail Order Bride Statistics
- Colombia has one of the lowest average ages at first marriage—for Colombian women, it’s only 18.1 years old!
- It’s the #1 most popular mail order bride country in the region, with 850 K-1 visas issued in 2023. The second most popular country, Brazil, only has 657 K-1 visas.
- The stereotype about large Colombian families with lots of kids isn’t true—the total fertility rate in this country is only 1.7 children per woman, which is pretty similar to the fertility rate in the US (1.79 children per woman).
- They are very educated. The share of women who attained a bachelor’s degree is one of the largest in the world (31.5%), and there are more female than male tertiary students in Colombia (52.98% are female).
- Colombia has one of the lowest divorce rates in the world—it’s only 0.7 divorces per 1,000 people, and only 9 countries have lower rates.
Colombian Mail Order Bride Scam
So here’s what you need to know before you start dating Colombian women: unfortunately, the chances of getting scammed are pretty high. There are a lot of scam dating sites, fake profiles, bots, scammers who can blackmail you, gold-diggers, and so on. It’s not a Colombian thing, of course, this has nothing to do with the country—most of these scammers are not even in Colombia.
Here are the top 3 scam types you need to be aware of:
- Fake dating sites with fake profiles. There might be some real users, but the only goal of such dating sites is to make you pay more and more. Typically, they have around 99% of profiles created and moderated by the website’s team.
- Scammers that ask for money or steal your data. Some of them just ask for money directly (they have those stories about urgent medical bills or visa fees). Or, they can send you a website where you can buy a gift (but the only goal of such a site would be to steal your credit card information).
- Blackmail. They receive NSFW videos and photos from a man, find his colleagues and family members on Facebook, and start blackmailing their victim.
How to save your money? Just follow these three tips:
- Choose the dating websites with a decent reputation. Only legit dating sites with rationally positive reviews and verified profiles are worth your time.
- Never send money and never enter your credit card information on suspicious websites. If a woman on a dating site shares a link with you, it’s 100% a suspicious website.
- Do not share videos and photos that can be used for blackmail, i.e., the ones with particular personal details or revealing your body too much.
It’s simple, right? Scammers are usually not the brightest nor the most creative people in the world, so they always follow a simple algorithm. If you don’t send them money and NSFW videos and don’t share your credit card data, they will not waste their time trying to scam you.
How To Take a Colombian Bride to the US
First of all, it’s 100% legal—if your relationship is genuine, you can bring your bride to the United States to marry her later. For this purpose, there is a K-1 visa: it’s called a fiancé(e) visa, and the applicant can enter the US in order to get married there within 90 days upon arrival in the country. Here’s how the process looks:
- First, you have to meet in person. It’s required for you to meet your bride in person at least once within the 2-year period before applying for the visa.
- File Form I-129F, pay the fee ($675), and wait for 6-11 months.
- Then, your bride will need to complete the DS-160 form (visa application) and pay the fee ($325).
- After that, she’ll have to attend the medical exam in Colombia and the visa interview.
- When it’s done, she’ll be able to enter the US on her K-1 visa. In the US, you’ll have to marry within 90 days.
- And after that, she’ll have to apply for a green card (Form I-485, $1,440).
Remember that you’ll need to take a lot of photos, save all your phone bills and even emails, as well as your tickets, and print them. You’ll have to show them to USCIS officers later in order to prove that your relationship is real, but that’s not all—more information is available here.
Women from Colombia deserve to be treated better than they are often treated in their country. The problem of toxic machismo culture is still not resolved in Colombia and while local men still see women solely as obedient homemakers, young Colombian women have different opinions on it. They have ambitions, they’re educated, they want respect and dignity, and if they can’t get it in Colombia, they begin to look towards a relationship with Western men. They are waiting for a loving and caring man from the US, and with websites like LatiDate, meeting these women is now easier than ever. So, don’t waste your time!
