MagnoliaDate Free Trial
I’ve tested many dating sites, so I always appreciate the option of Google sign-in. That’s what I used on MagnoliaDate, but I still had to input my date of birth and partner preferences after the initial login. So, using an email and password would take just as long, around 60 seconds.
On the bright side, MagnoliaDate didn’t ask for my credit card details, and I could explore the dating site to my heart’s content, especially since I received 20 bonus credits. That’s MagnoliaDate’s version of a free trial. I chose to spend mine on live chat, and the welcome bonus bought me 10 minutes of texting.

MagnoliaDate Overview
MagnoliaDate is a recent addition to the international dating lineup. Matching Asian ladies with Western bachelors, it’s a prime destination for serious relationships and marriage. For now, MagnoliaDate is relatively small, with only a few thousand active members, but I expect it’ll gain popularity fast, as soon as the biggest fans of Asian ladies get wind of it.
Before we dive into the specifics of my experience, here’s a brief MagnoliaDate overview based on our trial run:

Profiles
As you’ve gathered, I’m a huge fan of MagnoliaDate profiles. I love it when dating sites let members share as much info as possible, and MagnoliaDate is among the best I’ve seen. Each profile includes 3 major sections:
- Photo gallery. I found that most members share 5 to 10 photos, but some have even more. There’s usually a healthy mix of professional shots and candid pictures. Still, I saw a couple of sparse accounts, which made me suspicious.
- Basic info. These are standard fields covering appearance, interests, marital status, etc. I liked that standard fields included the desire for more children, but I wish there were a field for English proficiency.
- Detailed bio. Here, the ladies share more about themselves and what they are looking for in relationships. I recommend you pay attention to these descriptions because some of them are pretty vague, while others are a good way to gauge compatibility (and English proficiency).
By the way, I suggest you take the time to work on your profile if you want to attract single ladies. The more you share, the more letters and chat invitations you’ll receive.
Features
As I’ve mentioned, MagnoliaDate is a freemium dating site, meaning registration and basic tools are free, while advanced features require a premium upgrade. Of course, I had to test all of them, and here’s what I learned.
I always start my tests with a free account to see what’s available to every user immediately after registration. Here’s what MagnoliaDate offers:
- Search – basic filters include age range, country, and gender, which are enough to narrow down the dating pool somewhat, but not enough to focus on a specific type.
- Like – it’s MagnoliaDate’s version of swiping, only you can also apply a Wide or Fast filter to hone in on a specific country or age range. It’s a nice way to show your appreciation and get mutual likes. Luckily, you don’t have to wait for mutual likes to start chatting.
- Public profile access – with a free account, I could access full profile info and public photos. There were only a few profiles with private pictures, so they didn’t hinder my exploration. Overall, this is definitely my favorite of the free tools available on MagnoliaDate.
- Favorites – these aren’t the same as “Likes”. I experimented pressing on the star icons to fill up my favorites list and removing members from it. Initially, I was a bit confused by the two features, but they helped me keep track of dozens of ladies I liked.
- FAQ and Tutorial – I didn’t rely on either much, but I still appreciate the lengths MagnoliaDate goes to ensure every member feels welcome and can make the most of all features.
It may not seem like much, but I had fun exploring these free MagnoliaDate features, and I would have happily kept lurking for a few more days (or weeks).
Of course, I had to see if the premium membership was worth the money, so I purchased a credit bundle and spent it on:
- Live chat – 2 credits/minute. It works just like any messenger, with the same functionality. The biggest problem for me was scheduling chat windows around the time difference.
- Mail – 30 credits/letter (10 credits for the first one). These hold up to 3,000 characters and are pretty handy for first-time introductions.
- Photo messages – 10 credits. I had fun making specific requests, and the girls were happy to accommodate me.
- Voice messages – 10 credits. I used these a couple of times to gauge the girls’ English proficiency.
- Video messages – 50 credits. I would have loved to get more video messages, but the cost is pretty prohibitive.
- Stickers – 5 credits. There are a few dozen to choose from to make chats more dynamic, but I found the cost excessive.
Fun fact: the paid features above are in order of preference, from my most to least favorite and used. So while I chatted with the girls almost every day, I only used stickers and video messages a couple of times.
Price
MagnoliaDate offers six credit bundles for any budget:
Of course, the largest bundle is the most cost-effective. For $200, you get over eight hours of live chat or 100 photo or voice messages. In my experience, that should be enough to support a long-term relationship for a few weeks, up to a month. Still, I expect you’ll spend at least twice as much in the first month on MagnoliaDate while you’re getting used to the pricing and still looking for the right match.
Ease of Use
After testing all the dating sites, I felt comfortable navigating MagnoliaDate. But I think it will be just as easy for online dating newbies. The panel on the left hosts all the major tabs, while the panel on the right lets me track recent activity, including likes, messages, and more.
I liked the easy transition between live chat and mail, especially for chatting with Asian girls, when the time difference is 10+ hours. It’s nice that both communication options are available in the search results, member profiles, and the menu panel.
The FAQ and Tutorial sections deserve a special shout-out. The tutorials are especially impressive, with detailed screenshots and instructions. So, even if it’s your first time using a dating site, you’ll get great results by following the step-by-step guidelines.
My only minor complaint is that clicking on photos on the Search page opens a photo gallery. If I want to get full profile info, I have to hover over the photo and wait for the “Profile” button to appear at the bottom.
MagnoliaDate Lifehacks
You’ll do fine on MagnoliaDate even without these tricks, but they’ll help you minimize expenses and have a better experience overall:
- You can delete members from favorites, but not from likes. You can use it as a kind of two-step vetting process to focus on potential matches that fit your requirements and return your interest.
- First messages from girls are free. Some are bland cookie-cutter texts, but I got a few great letters. So, if you don’t mind the girl making the first step, I suggest waiting for them to notice you after you give them likes or stars. But remember, you don’t have to answer every message you get.
- Be careful opening and sending photos and videos. Once you click on the preview, your balance will be charged automatically. The same is true for uploading media files. I chose the wrong file by mistake and paid 10 credits for it, so don’t be like me.
I’m sure you’ll come up with even more ways to maximize a MagnoliaDate membership as you keep using this dating site.
User Reviews

“Great site to expand my dating options and get back on the horse. I’m still lurking around, and I love all the attention I get, but I’m still looking for the right girl to flirt with. All the incoming messages and pics sure are a confidence boost. Highly recommended!”

“I didn’t take Sanchai seriously when she said she wanted to get married at 21. But the more we chatted, the more I realized how mature she was for her age. She’s wise beyond her years, and she manages to make me happy despite thousands of miles between us. I’m hoping to meet her in person soon, but for now we’re happy to chat on MagnoliaDate.”

“Yufan and I clicked right away. She’s also a recent divorcee, and our tastes in books and movies align just right. Finally, I have someone to talk to at the end of the day without feeling like an outsider in my own home. We’ve been together for three years, and married for over a year and a half, all thanks to MagnoliaDate.”
Expert’s Verdict: Is MagnoliaDate Worth It?

MagnoliaDate isn’t perfect by far. There are some questionable navigation choices, and pricing is a hit-and-miss for some features. But I wouldn’t dismiss it out of hand. It’s relatively new, and the members are eager as ever, so now is the right time to swoop in and enjoy their undivided attention. Additionally, if you keep a close eye on your credit balance, you should be able to stay on budget, especially if you follow my advice.
Give it a try. Registration is 100% risk-free, and you won’t even need your credit card info. So, take a couple of minutes to set up an account and look around. It might just be the Asian dating site you’ve been looking for.
